Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Monday along with Union Minister of State for Road Transport and Highways Harsh Malhotra launched development projects worth about Rs 1075 crore at Ramlila Maidan in East Delhi’s Vivek Vihar. These projects are to Public Works Department (PWD) and Irrigation and Flood Control Department. The Chief Minister said that strong infrastructure is necessary for the balanced development of Delhi. These projects will improve the traffic system and will also provide permanent relief from problems like waterlogging.
on this occasion Chief Minister Rekha Gupta Said that the citizens of the trans-Yamuna area had been waiting for proper development of their streets, drains and roads for years. Today, the foundation stone of projects worth about Rs 1075 crore is a historic step towards ending that long wait. The aim of the government is to develop equally in every area of Delhi and provide world class facilities to the citizens.
CM also targeted the previous government
Taking aim at the previous governments, the Chief Minister said that even after being in power for years, if the basic problems of an area like broken roads, open drains, lack of good schools and hospitals remain the same, then it clearly shows the failure of the administration. The present government believes in the results of work and not just politics. No area of Delhi will now be deprived of development.
Chief Minister Rekha Gupta said that in the last one year, the Delhi government has established a new work culture to speed up the development works. In view of this, regular monitoring of projects, timely implementation and transparency have been given top priority. He said that this is not just a program of laying the foundation stone, but a resolution to build a developed Delhi. He directed the officials that all the projects should be completed with high quality within the stipulated time frame.
Road infrastructure will get new expansion
He said that PWD is starting the work of strengthening and improving 236 roads at a cost of about Rs 782 crore. With the construction and improvement of these roads, traffic will be smooth and people will get safe and convenient transportation. Apart from this, five foot over bridges will also be built at a cost of about Rs 21 crore, which will provide relief to pedestrians.
Big focus on drainage and flood control
CM Rekha Gupta said that many important works are also being started under the Irrigation and Flood Control Department. These include reconstruction of 10 drains, improvement of 3 drains, construction of 24 boundary walls and construction of 18 roads and bridges. About Rs 272 crore will be spent on these projects. With the completion of these works, drainage of rain water will improve, the problem of waterlogging will reduce and the affected areas will get permanent relief.
On this occasion, Delhi Cabinet Minister Pravesh Sahib Singh, Yamuna Cross Development Board Chairman and Gandhi Nagar MLA Arvinder Singh Lovely, Laxmi Nagar MLA Abhay Verma, Vishwas Nagar MLA Om Prakash Sharma, Shahdara MLA Sanjay Goyal, Krishna Nagar MLA Anil Goyal, Patparganj MLA Ravindra Singh Negi, Trilokpuri MLA Ravi Kant and other dignitaries were present.
