What documents will be required?

Any person who is a citizen of India, 18 years of age or older, and has a valid address proof. They can apply for a Voter ID. Some basic documents must be uploaded when applying. An Aadhaar card, passport, driving license, PAN card, birth certificate, or educational certificate is used for identification. An electricity bill, water bill, or bank passbook can be used as proof of address. A recent passport-size photo is also required. Documents must be clear and updated to avoid application delays.

How to Change Address Online

If the address on your Voter ID is incorrect, it can be corrected online. To do this, go to the Voter Service Portal and fill out Form 8. Enter the correct information, upload the required documents, and submit the application. After submission, you will receive a tracking number to check the status. Those who wish to apply offline can contact their local BLO to fill out Form 8 and submit the documents. The online process is simpler than the offline process.

How long does it take?

There is no fee for obtaining or correcting a voter ID. Both online and offline processes are completely free. After submitting an application, the relevant officials verify the documents. If everything is found to be correct, a new card is issued with updated details. The process can typically take a few weeks to complete.
