The Afghanistan national cricket team signed off their T20 World Cup campaign with a commanding 82-run win over the Canada national cricket team in a Group D dead rubber on Thursday.

Opting to bat first, Afghanistan were propelled by a blazing, unbeaten knock from opener Ibrahim Zadran, who hammered 95 off just 56 deliveries. His innings, studded with seven fours and five sixes, anchored the total as he stitched together a crucial 95-run partnership for the third wicket with Sediqullah Atal, who contributed a brisk 44 off 32 balls.

Rahmanullah Gurbaz chipped in with 30 at the top as Afghanistan posted an imposing 200 for 4 in their allotted 20 overs.

In reply, Canada never truly threatened the target and were restricted to 118 for 8. Veteran all-rounder Mohammad Nabi produced a superb spell, claiming 4 for 7, while skipper Rashid Khan supported him with two wickets to seal a comprehensive victory.

Harsh Thaker top-scored for Canada with 30, but the chase fizzled out well short of the mark.
