Harry Potter enthusiasts are eager to discover exactly how much the cast of the forthcoming HBO series will be pocketing.
The upcoming adaptation of JK Rowling's beloved fantasy saga will debut its first season, Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone, this Christmas.
Alongside three newcomers taking on the iconic roles of Harry, Ron, and Hermione, the fresh adaptation will boast a stellar ensemble including Nick Frost as Rubeus Hagrid and John Lithgow as Albus Dumbledore.
The first trailer for the series, released last week, has already shattered records for HBO, amassing a remarkable 277 million views within its first 48 hours.
With millions of devoted fans anticipated to tune in later this year, just how much are the principal cast members earning?, reports the Mirror.
How much is the cast of Harry Potter getting paid? The Sun has reported insider knowledge that lead trio Dominic McLaughlin, 12, Alastair Stout, 12, and Arabella Stanton, 11, have all been paid the same salary of £500,000 for the first season of Harry Potter.
This extraordinary sum equates to more than £60,000 per episode of the opening eight-part instalment.
Salaries for the remaining cast members have yet to be disclosed, though they are widely anticipated to be considerably greater for more established names such as Lithgow, Janet McTeer (Professor McGonagall) and Paapa Essiedu (Professor Snape).
Reach has contacted HBO for comment on the latest reports. Sources have characterised the trio's wages as "whopping", noting that the young actors are "on track to be multi-millionaires before they turn 18".
McLaughlin, Stout, and Stanton's substantial earnings are only expected to grow throughout the series, should the reimagining prove as triumphant as the earlier film adaptations featuring Daniel Radcliffe as Harry.
Radcliffe was originally paid £1 million for the first film before that sum was reportedly doubled for Chamber of Secrets.
He ultimately earned a combined salary of approximately £40-50m for the final instalment, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, which was divided into two films. The actor accumulated a total of £94m from the blockbuster franchise.
In the most recent development regarding the eagerly awaited HBO series, HBO President Casey Bloys has confirmed the second season is presently being written and cautioned viewers there may be some considerable delays between instalments.
"Our goal is to not have a huge gap, you know, especially because the kids are growing," he explained. "It's not going to be an annual; the show is too big and too massive. But they're writing season two now."
Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone premieres this Christmas on HBO Max.
