New Delhi: Gujarat Titans won the final by defeating Rajasthan Royals by 7 wickets in the second qualifier. Captain Shubman Gill’s brilliant century gave the team a one-sided victory. Batting first, Rajasthan scored 214 runs for 6 wickets in 20 overs. In reply, Gujarat scored 219 runs losing 3 wickets in 18.4 overs and won the match. Gill played a match-winning inning of 104 runs in 53 balls with the help of 15 fours and 3 sixes.
Sai Sudarshan, who came to open with Shubman Gill, also scored an excellent half-century. Both of them made a partnership of 167 runs in just 77 balls for the first wicket and eliminated Rajasthan from the match. Sudarshan scored 58 runs in 32 balls with 8 fours and 1 six. However, like the last match, this time too he got out after being hit wicket. With this victory, Gujarat became the second team to reach the final. Now the team will play the title match against Royal Challengers Bangalore on 31 May.
Rajasthan captain Riyan Parag won the toss and chose to bat first. 15 year old opener Vaibhav Suryavanshi batted amazingly for the team. He scored 96 runs in 47 balls with the help of 8 fours and 7 sixes but could not lead the team to victory. Apart from Suryavanshi, Ravindra Jadeja contributed 45 runs. The rest of the batsmen flopped. Yashasvi Jaiswal scored 1 run, Dhruv Jurel scored 7 runs, Captain Riyan Parag scored 11 runs, Dasun Shanaka scored 3 runs, Joffra Archer scored 7 runs. Denovan Ferreira finally scored unbeaten 38 runs in 11 balls which included 2 fours and 4 sixes.
So far in IPL history, Shubman Gill and Sai Sudarshan are the only batsmen to score centuries for Gujarat Titans. The record of fastest century for Gujarat was also earlier in the name of Gill. He scored a century in 49 balls against Mumbai Indians in 2023. This time he broke his own record and completed his century in 47 balls.
