DigiLocker Scam On Fake Portal: The controversy started regarding CBSE OSM portal and now another big cyber warning has come out for the students. For information, let us tell you that the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) has alerted students across the country about a fake DigiLocker website. This warning states that this website looks exactly like a genuine government portal but in reality it is a dangerous scam designed to steal personal information of students.

The Ministry has stated in its official X handle on social media that the named website is not associated with the government. But its design, logo and interface looks exactly like the official DigiLocker which is meant to cheat people.

Students are being victimized in a hurry to see the results

It is being told in the report that in this scam, those students are especially targeted who are still waiting for their board results. In this scam, sensitive information like mobile number, password, Aadhaar details and OTP is taken from users on fake websites. The surprising thing in this whole matter is that in this, users can also get OTP like the original DigiLocker. Due to which students think that the website is genuine but enter OTP, scammers get access to their real DigiLocker account.

Using which, cyber criminals gain access to Aadhaar card, PAN card, marksheets and other important documents. Regarding which experts say that such information can be used in identity theft, banking fraud and other cyber crimes.

DigiLocker and MeitY had issued warnings earlier also

For your information, let us tell you that earlier this week, DigiLocker had also flagged this platform and appealed to the users to be cautious. After which now after the alert of MeitY, it has become clear that this is not an ordinary fake website but a big cyber fraud network. In this era of the country, where students are increasingly dependent on online documents, cyber thugs are also targeting people in new ways. Which is a hindrance in improving Digital India.

keep yourself safe like this

  • Before logging in to any website, please check the URL.

  • Always keep in mind that the government website should end with .gov.in.

  • Do not share OTP, Aadhaar number or password on any unknown website.

  • If the website looks suspicious or asks for payment, exit immediately.

  • Use only official DigiLocker app and website

Regarding this new fraud, experts say that a small mistake made in haste at the time of result can put your entire digital identity in danger. In such a situation, before entering your information in any website, definitely check whether it is the right site or not.
