Fuel supplies in the country remain normal at a time when supply chains are facing disruption due to tensions in the Middle East.
The ministry said in the statement that no distributor in the country has received any information about running out of gas. To prevent misuse of cylinders at the distributor level, online LPG cylinder booking has increased to approximately 99 percent and delivery through Delivery Authentication Code (DAC) has increased to approximately 96 percent.
Around 10.02 lakh PNG connections have been provided since March this year and infrastructure has been created for an additional 3.22 lakh connections, taking the total number of connections to 13.24 lakh.
The Central Government is appealing to the States and Union Territories to encourage LPG consumers to switch to PNG in areas where the network is available.
About 9.44 lakh customers have registered for the new PNG connection.
Along with LPG, adequate stock of petrol and diesel is available at all petrol pumps across the country.
Meanwhile, surprise inspections by public sector oil companies (PSUs) are also continuing to check hoarding and black marketing of petroleum products.
In the last three days, fine has been imposed on eight LPG distributors due to indiscipline.
Fine has also been imposed on 14 petrol pumps and 598 pumps have been suspended for violating market discipline guidelines.
The government advised people not to panic buy petrol, diesel and LPG, avoid rumors and rely on official sources for correct information.
LPG customers are requested to use digital booking platforms and avoid visiting the distributor.
“All refineries are operating at full capacity with adequate crude oil stocks, and adequate stocks of petrol and diesel are also being maintained. Local LPG production from the refineries has been increased to meet domestic consumption,” the statement said.
