England have got a big boost before the Women’s T20 World Cup 2026 semi-final against South Africa, as captain Nat Sciver-Brunt has been declared fit to go again. The all rounder has recovered from a left calf injury, which meant she missed three group-stage games, and now she’s set to lead the side once more, basically in the nick of time.
Her comeback lands at just the right moment too, because England are heading into one of the tournament’s biggest games. The hosts have won every single group-stage match, but having their skipper back gives them extra know-how and strength going into the knockout at The Oval.
Nat Sciver-Brunt Ready After Injury Recovery
Sciver-Brunt has had a pretty rough stretch thanks to that calf problem. She first picked it up during a domestic match back in April, and that ruled her out of England’s ODI series vs New Zealand. After that she also missed six T20I matches against New Zealand and India, while she kept working on getting right again.
She returned in time for the World Cup and made an instant difference. Against Sri Lanka, she blasted a quick 46 off 22 balls. Then in England’s second game vs Ireland, she finished unbeaten on 48, but soon after felt tightness in that same calf. England retired her out as a safety move, and later they decided to rest her for the rest of the group-stage fixtures.
After treatment and regular fitness checks, England’s medical team have now cleared her to take part in the semi-final.

England Carry Winning Form Into Knockout Match
England have had a totally clean campaign so far, even with their captain missing from three matches. They kicked things off with a big win over Sri Lanka, then they beat Ireland in a tight contest.
Next they accounted for Scotland and West Indies by 38 runs each, before wrapping up the group stage with a comfy nine wicket win over New Zealand. During Sciver-Brunt’s absence, Charlie Dean led the charge, while the wider group kept performing in both phases, batting and bowling.
Now England get South Africa for a shot at the final, where Australia Women are already set after claiming victory in the first semi-final.
Big Chance for England's Captain
Even though Nat Sciver-Brunt has only appeared in two matches so far, she’s already made 94 runs at an average of 94, with a strike rate over 159. Those kind of numbers suggest just how influential she is in England’s batting.
The semi-final will be her first match back after missing the three games, so she’ll need to get settled fast. Still, her experience is massive, with 139 T20Is for England, making her one of the team’s biggest match-winners.
Also, her return gives England another bowling angle, and it adds steady, measured leadership out in the middle. With a World Cup final spot on the line, England will be hoping their captain can add another big contribution and keep their unbeaten run going.
