Lucknow. A big step is being taken towards giving new impetus to road connectivity in Uttar Pradesh. The state is going to be awarded three important National Highway projects which have cost more than Rs 4,850 crore. With the commencement of these projects, not only will the travel of millions of people become easier, but industrial development, trade, tourism and investment are also expected to get new momentum.
The most discussed among these projects is the Kanpur-Lucknow 6-lane expressway. This road was awaited for a long time, as thousands of people travel between Kanpur and Lucknow every day for jobs, business, education and other purposes. Due to traffic jams and increasing pressure on old highways, people used to spend a lot of time on the road. Now this picture is about to change.
Kanpur-Lucknow journey will be completed in 35 to 40 minutes
After the commencement of this modern 6-lane expressway, about 62 kilometers long and built at a cost of about Rs 3,600 crore, the travel between Kanpur and Lucknow will become much faster than before. Whereas earlier it used to take about three hours to cover this distance, now drivers will be able to reach their destination in 35 to 40 minutes under normal circumstances.
Not just two cities, many districts will get direct benefits
The benefits of this project will not be limited to Kanpur and Lucknow only. Commuters from districts like Hardoi, Sitapur, Ayodhya, Unnao and Sultanpur will also get better road connectivity. It will be easier than ever to reach the capital and industrial cities from these areas.
Relief from Hardoi-Lucknow Highway and new flyover
Under the road projects, a four-lane section of the Hardoi-Lucknow National Highway will also be inaugurated. Along with this, the foundation stone of a new four-lane flyover will be laid at the Engineering College intersection in Lucknow. The construction of this flyover is expected to reduce the daily traffic jams in Vikas Nagar, Jankipuram, Khurmi Nagar and surrounding areas. This will provide great relief to office going people, students and local businessmen.
Toll will have to be paid, but there will be huge savings in time.
Toll fee has also been fixed along with the new facility. The one-way toll for cars, jeeps and vans has been kept at Rs 275, while returning within 24 hours will cost Rs 415. This fee has been fixed at Rs 445 for light commercial vehicles and Rs 935 for bus-trucks.
