Narsinghpur, 20 July. Five friends died, while a youth was seriously injured in a tragic road accident in Narsinghpur district of Madhya Pradesh on Sunday evening. All the friends were returning after having a picnic and had stopped to take pictures on the highway side. Meanwhile, a speeding heavy vehicle crushed him. After the accident, the driver fled from the spot along with the vehicle.

Accident happened while taking photos on the highway

According to the police, all the youth had gone for a picnic at the famous Hathinala waterfall located on the Narsinghpur-Jabalpur border. While returning, he stopped his car near Indira Nagar on NH-45 and was taking photographs. Then a speeding heavy vehicle coming from behind hit him hard. Suatala police station in-charge (SHO) Priyanka Kevat said that Rajendra Patel (22), Virendra Lodhi (20), Rampal Singh Lodhi (21), Jaipal Singh Lodhi (30) and Neeraj Singh Lodhi (25) died in the accident. Akash Singh Lodhi (24) is seriously injured and his treatment is going on. According to the police, Rajendra Patel died on the spot, while the other four youths died on the way to the hospital.

Police are examining CCTV footage

Police said that all the youth who were victims of the accident were residents of Jabalpur district of Madhya Pradesh. They were returning home after enjoying a picnic, but this tragic accident happened on the way. After the accident, the accused driver fled with the vehicle. Police say that it is not yet clear whether a truck, dumper or any other heavy vehicle was involved in the accident. The footage of CCTV cameras installed nearby is being scrutinized and statements of eyewitnesses are being recorded. Investigation has been intensified to identify the vehicle and driver.

Local people told the reason for the accident

According to eyewitnesses, after returning from the waterfall, six friends were stopping on the highway side and taking photographs. Meanwhile, a speeding vehicle hit him. After the incident, there was chaos on the spot and the local people immediately informed the police and ambulance.
