New Delhi. President Draupadi Murmu has accepted the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan on the advice of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Furthermore, the President has directed that Cabinet Minister Pralhad Joshi be given the charge of the Education Ministry along with his existing portfolios. Pralhad Joshi already holds the portfolios of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution and New and Renewable Energy. On the other hand, the movement going on at Jantar Mantar in Delhi has ended. The government has accepted the demands of the protesters. All metro stations in Delhi have been opened and the protesters have now started returning.

Union Ministers JP Nadda and Jitendra Singh again held talks with the agitators today in which an agreement was reached regarding their demands. Nadda said that the third round of talks with the delegation took place today. The delegation submitted a written proposal covering matters to the movement and its five-point demands (charter). The government assured that no action would be taken against the organizers and protesters and no new cases would be registered in connection with the movement. The government also expressed condolences to the families of the students who lost their lives in the NEET paper leak case and assured to provide maximum compensation to their families as per the rules.

The government has responded positively to the five-point demands to examination and education reforms and will continue talks with the delegation. An appeal has been made to the students and youth to end the agitation peacefully and allow the dialogue process to continue. After talks with the government, the delegation announced the end of the protest and appealed to the protesters to return to their homes.
