It has been raining heavily in Delhi-NCR since Tuesday morning. Waterlogging has occurred at many places. A red alert has been issued by the Meteorological Department for the entire Delhi for the next two to three hours.

According to the Meteorological Department, there is a high possibility of lightning, storm, and heavy rain with strong winds (about 60 km/hr) in Central Delhi, East Delhi, New Delhi, North Delhi, North East Delhi, North West Delhi, Shahdara, South Delhi, South East Delhi, South West Delhi, and West Delhi, regarding which a warning has been issued by the Meteorological Department.

Due to rain starting since morning, roads in many areas are submerged in water. Due to this, people are facing problems even in going to office. Orange alert was initially issued by the Meteorological Department, but later it was converted into red alert.

According to the Meteorological Department, there is heavy rain in Ambedkar Nagar, Amethi, Ayodhya, Azamgarh, Baghpat, Ballia, Banda, Basti, Chandauli, Chitrakoot, Deoria, Ghazipur, Gonda, Gorakhpur, Hamirpur, Jaunpur, Jhansi, Kushinagar, Mahoba, Mau, Meerut, Muzaffarnagar, Pratapgarh, Sant Kabir Nagar, Shamli, Sultanpur and Varanasi in Uttar Pradesh. Moderate rain is forecast with strong winds (40-60 km/hr) along with the possibility of thunderstorms and lightning.

Whereas, Kannur, Kasaragod, Kozhikode, Lakshadweep, Malappuram, Thrissur, Wayanad of Kerala; Chhatarpur, Datia, Gwalior, Niwari, Panna, Rewa, Satna, Sidhi, Singrauli, Tikamgarh of Madhya Pradesh; Panipat, Sonipat of Haryana and Bageshwar, Champawat, Dehradun, Pithoragarh and Tehri Garhwal of Uttarakhand are also forecast to have moderate rain with strong winds (40-60 km/hr) along with possibility of storm and lightning.

The Meteorological Department has issued a warning saying that residents of the affected areas are advised to remain alert and take necessary precautions. Do not take shelter under trees or weak structures, monitor road/traffic conditions, avoid unnecessary travel and follow other advisories issued by concerned agencies.
