UPSC ESE 2027: The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has launched a major recruitment drive for young aspirants aiming for government jobs in the engineering sector. The Commission has released the notification and commenced the application process for the Engineering Services Examination (ESE) 2027. **Applications Open Until October 6**
The online application process for UPSC ESE 2027 began on September 16, 2026. Eligible candidates can apply until 6:00 PM on October 6, 2026. Applications must be submitted via the UPSC online portal. Candidates are advised to carefully review their eligibility and all application-related requirements before filling out the form.
Regarding the exam schedule, the ESE 2027 Preliminary Examination is set for January 31, 2027. This will be followed by the Main Examination on June 18, 2027. This gives candidates ample time to effectively advance their preparations.
**500-Mark Preliminary Examination**
The ESE Preliminary Examination consists of two papers, with a combined total of 500 marks. The first paper covers General Studies and Engineering Aptitude; it carries 200 marks and allows a duration of 2 hours. The second paper relates to the candidate's specific engineering branch; it carries 300 marks and allows a duration of 3 hours. The content of the second paper will be based on the specific engineering discipline for which the candidate has applied.
**Recruitment Across Four Engineering Streams**
UPSC ESE 2027 will facilitate recruitment across four major engineering categories: Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, and Electronics & Telecommunication Engineering. According to the notification, there are approximately 480 vacancies. Of these, 19 posts are designated for candidates with disabilities (PwBD category). However, the number of vacancies is not final and is subject to change.

To apply, candidates must first visit the UPSC online portal and complete the mandatory registration process. This includes steps such as generating a Universal Registration Number (URN) and filling out the Common Application Form (CAF).
