Hisar : Ratia city police have made the third arrest in a case involving an alleged Rs 26.5 lakh immigration fraud . The accused, Pankaj Chhabra , allegedly promised an Australian work visa for the complainant’s husband.




Chhabra, a resident of Ferozepur in Punjab, was produced in court and remanded in police custody for four days.




Ratia city police station SHO Bijender Hooda said the case was registered on a complaint by Seema Rani of Shakti Nagar, Ratia. She said the accused took Rs 26.5 lakh from her to send her husband abroad. According to her, he was first sent to Muscat and later to Dubai , but not to Australia, as promised.




A case was registered at Ratia city police station on April 24, 2024, under sections related to cheating, criminal breach of trust and criminal conspiracy.




Police said investigation revealed that Rs 5.5 lakh allegedly collected from the complainant had been transferred to a bank account linked to Pankaj. Thereafter, he was arrested. Further investigation is on.
