Asian Games 2026: Sunday i.e. 27th September is going to be very important for Indian players in the Asian Games 2026. In squash, Anhat Singh and Abhay Singh will take the court for the gold medal. Whereas in athletics, Tejaswin Shankar will have a chance to win gold medal in decathlon. Medal hopes will also be from PV Sindhu and Unnati Hooda in badminton, while in shooting Manu Bhaker will also be there.


The Indian women's hockey team will face Singapore in its last match of the group stage. Apart from this, Indian players will also challenge for medals in archery, boxing, weightlifting, horse riding and fencing.


Anhat Singh and Abhay Singh have a chance to create history

India's eyes will be mostly on the final matches of squash. Anahat Singh will face Malaysia's Subramaniam Sivasangari in the women's singles final. At the same time, in the men's singles final, Abhay Singh will face Malaysia's Ng Eun Yeo.


Anhat Singh made it to the final by defeating world number six Satomi Watanabe of Japan in the semi-finals. Now he will face the challenge of world number five and current Asian Games champion Shivsangari.


On the other hand, Abhay Singh entered the title match by defeating Pakistan's Irfan Muhammad in the semi-finals. Now he will face defending champion Ng Eun Yeo.


For both the Indian players, this match is important towards winning the gold medal and also achieving the quota for Los Angeles Olympics 2028. However, to achieve Olympic quota, one has to fulfill the prescribed eligibility conditions. These also include breaking into the top 50 in the PSA world rankings on 22 May 2028.


It is noteworthy that Squash will be included in Los Angeles Olympics 2028 for the first time.


Tejaswin Shankar eyes gold medal

In athletics, Tejaswin Shankar will enter the final day of men's decathlon with a lead of 88 points. Hangzhou 2023 Asian Games silver medalist Tejaswin will be in the field this time with the intention of changing the color of his medal.


In women's long jump, Hangzhou 2023 silver medalists Ansi Sojan and Shaili Singh will contest the finals. At the same time, Parul Chaudhary will also challenge for a medal in the women's 3000 meter steeplechase.

Manu Bhaker returns, eyes on PV Sindhu too

There is no medal match scheduled for Sunday in shooting. However, two-time Olympic medalist Manu Bhaker will compete in the qualification of women's 25m pistol. Earlier she had missed an individual medal in 10 meter pistol.


Along with this, the qualification matches of men's and women's trap event will also start.


In badminton, PV Sindhu, Unnati Hooda and the Indian doubles pairs are one win away from ensuring a medal. Sindhu will face Tokyo Olympics 2020 champion Chen Yu Fei of China. At the same time, Unnati Hooda will face the challenge of three-time world champion and domestic player Akane Yamaguchi.


In women's doubles, the pair of Trisha Jolly and Gayatri Gopichand, while in mixed doubles, the pair of Dhruv Kapila and Tanisha Crasto will also enter the quarter-finals.


Women's hockey team competes with Singapore
