Vrindavan: As soon as the process of vacating the flats of the dilapidated Kanshiram Residential Colony started, opposition from the local residents came to the fore. Even before the Municipal Corporation's construction department team arrived on Monday, a large number of people gathered in the colony and protested against the action. People demanded from the administration that before vacating the flats, arrangements for housing should be made for the original allottees. He says that due to sudden eviction of the houses, the families will face the problem of living.

Survey found buildings unsafe, administration had given notice

The condition of these flats built under the ambitious Kanshi Ram Housing Scheme of the then Mayawati government has been bad for a long time. After the survey report found the buildings dilapidated and unsafe to live in, the district administration had issued notices to the people living here to vacate their houses in view of security. After completion of the notice period, the Municipal Corporation has now started the process of vacating the flat.

As soon as information about the action was received, a crowd of people gathered in the colony on Monday. Tarun Kishore, Raja Usmani, Akbar and other residents said that a large number of people are living in the colony who are not the original allottees. It is alleged that many people have occupied the houses without allotment. People demanded that the administration first identify the original allottees and those living unauthorized. Houses should be vacated from unauthorized occupants and given to the original allottees.

Making people homeless without alternative arrangements is not a solution: Residents

Residents also said that those who have documents to previous allotment, they should be provided housing on their basis. He says that the administration's concern regarding the condition of dilapidated buildings is justified, but making the families homeless without providing them alternative arrangements is not the solution to the problem.

Municipal Corporation's Additional Commissioner Neeraj Sharma said that earlier notices had been issued to the people living in Kanshi Ram Residential Scheme. The notice period has ended. Now the process of vacating the flat will be implemented as per rules. Some people have also been shifted to other places. Further action will be taken soon.
