New Delhi: Under the public hearing initiative of Delhi Police to strengthen the direct communication between the police and the general public in the capital, a public hearing was organized at Mandavali police station and Madhu Vihar police station in the eastern district. The public hearing was presided over by Special Police Commissioner Law and Order Zone-1 Devesh Chandra Srivastava. During this, Joint Commissioner of Police Eastern Range Milind Mahadev Dumbre and Deputy Commissioner of Police Eastern District Rajeev Kumar along with Additional DCP and ACP were also present.
Apart from Assistant Police Commissioner Mayur Vihar and Assistant Police Commissioner Madhu Vihar, additional police station in-charges of both the police stations and concerned police personnel were also present in the public hearing. The officers heard the complaints of the complainants one by one and gave instructions to take necessary action in the matters.
148 complaints, 121 resolved
A total of 148 cases came up during the public hearing. Of these, 121 cases were resolved, while in the remaining 27 cases, the concerned officers were instructed to investigate and ensure appropriate resolution as soon as possible. A large number of the cases that came up in the public hearing were of mutual disputes, fights between neighbors, money transactions, domestic disputes and family matters to mother-in-law and daughter-in-law. The police officers listened carefully to the complainants and directed the concerned officer to take necessary action as per the nature of each case.
Expressed his views directly in front of police officers
The purpose of the public hearing was to give people an opportunity to present their complaints directly to senior police officers. The complainants placed their problems and concerns before the authorities, on which the authorities listened seriously and directed the concerned police officers to take necessary action.
Through this initiative, the police tried to convey the message that listening to public complaints and ensuring their appropriate resolution is one of the primary responsibilities of the police. During the public hearing, there was also a direct interaction between police officers and citizens due to which emphasis was laid on strengthening police-public relations at the local level.
