News Desk. There is news of great relief to railways for the people of Western Uttar Pradesh. The railway line from Delhi to Saharanpur via Shamli will now be double tracked. Railways has intensified the preparations for this project and for this necessary information is being collected from the concerned departments.


85.27 km rail track will be doubled


Under the proposal, about 85.27 kilometers of railway line from Delhi to Shamli will be doubled. A total of 11.54 hectares of land is planned to be acquired for the project. For this, about 8.49 hectares of land will be required in Baghpat alone.


After doubling, the capacity of the railway line will increase and there will be ease in operation of trains. It has come to light that the proposed line will be developed with a speed of up to 130 kilometers per hour.


Discussion held with officials in Baghpat


On behalf of the Deputy Chief Engineer of Railways, a meeting was held with the officials of Baghpat to discuss the preparations to the project. Data and suggestions have been sought from various departments for final survey, traffic assessment and preparation of DPR.


This includes information like passenger numbers, industrial activities, land acquisition, electricity-water and telecommunication lines. What proportion of the road traffic can come to the railways will also be assessed.


Along with passengers, industries also benefit


With the doubling of the railway line, the people of Western UP including Baghpat and Shamli are expected to get better rail connectivity. With the possibility of operating more trains, the freight carrying capacity can also increase.


Strengthening the rail network is expected to boost industrial activities in the area and create new employment opportunities. In this way, this project will not only ease the travel of passengers, but can also play an important role in the economic development of Western UP.
