Jind: Chandigarh DGP Sagar Preet Hooda on Sunday launched ‘ Panchgama Pahal ’, a voluntary, non-political initiative to promote education , skill development , sports and social awareness across 300 villages in Haryana ’s Jind district .
Launched at Chaudhary Ranbir Singh University ’s late Dr Harichand Midda auditorium , the initiative groups the villages into 60 Panchgamas, each comprising around five villages and led by local volunteers.
Under the theme ‘Give to Society’, successful professionals and social service-minded individuals will guide rural youth and help connect villages with experts, institutions and resources.
The initiative proposes 10 thematic groups covering social awareness, vocational training, career guidance, health, sports, education, storytelling, partnerships, community engagement, legal awareness and coordination.
Jagriti will focus on issues such as drug abuse, unsafe migration, cyber safety and road safety, while Hunar will promote employability, entrepreneurship, digital and AI literacy. Disha will provide career guidance, including support for scholarships and competitive examinations.
Swasthya & Khel will promote fitness, nutrition and mental well-being, while Pustak will encourage reading and work towards establishing a knowledge hub in each Panchgama. Other groups will focus on documenting inspiring rural stories, mobilising resources, engaging local institutions and promoting legal awareness.
Samanvay, the central coordination unit, will coordinate activities, maintain records and review progress. The 60 Panchgama leads will identify local needs and approach the relevant thematic groups for support.
