Chandigarh: Haryana chief minister Nayab Singh Saini on Sunday inaugurated the state’s first tourist police post at Shri Mata Mansa Devi temple in Panchkula , with 20 specially trained personnel deployed round the clock to assist devotees and strengthen security at the religious site.

A key feature of the facility is the availability of complaint registration , daily diary entries and FIR-related facilities within the temple premises. Earlier, devotees had to approach Mata Mansa Devi police station to report incidents.

Over 100 CCTV cameras installed across the temple complex will be monitored live from a control room at the post.

Reviewing the arrangements after inaugurating the facility, Saini the initiative would help make visits of thousands of devotees safer and more convenient.

The 20 personnel have received specialised training in courteous behaviour, communication and assisting pilgrims from different regions. They will wear a distinctive tourist police uniform to make them easily identifiable.

The post will provide information on general and VIP darshan queues, shoe-deposit facilities, prasad and langar. Devotees will also be guided to bus stands, railway stations, auto-rickshaw and e-rickshaw stands, and parking areas. Information on other religious destinations, including Kali Mata temple and Chandi Mata temple in Kalka, will also be available.

Loudspeaker announcements will be used to alert devotees, while police will coordinate with the Shrine Board , health, and fire departments during medical emergencies, stampede-like situations, and VIP movement.

Haryana DGP Ajay Singhal said the facility would bring security, guidance and grievance redressal under one roof, while supporting religious tourism .
