UP News: There is news of relief for the cooks preparing mid-day meals in government schools in Uttar Pradesh. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath's government has increased their monthly honorarium by Rs 1,000. Now cooks will get Rs 3,000 every month instead of Rs 2,000. About 3.53 lakh cooks of the state will benefit from this decision of the government. The increase in honorarium during the festive season will help these employees in meeting household expenses.

The government has implemented the new rate of honorarium from the month of September. In such a situation, the cooks will also get the outstanding money of September in October. In this way, a total of Rs 4,000 will be sent to his account including the honorarium for the month of October and the arrears of September.

Increase in honorarium by Rs 1,000

The honorarium of cooks cooking for children in primary and upper primary schools of Basic Education Council of Uttar Pradesh has been increased. Earlier he used to get Rs 2,000 every month, but now this amount has increased to Rs 3,000.

This decision will be a relief for the cooks running a household with low income in the era of inflation. The government has given instructions to complete the payment process as per the new rate, so that the employees can get the money on time.

You will get Rs 4,000 in October

Since the increase in honorarium will be effective from September, the cooks will also get the outstanding amount in October. They will be given Rs 3,000 for October and Rs 1,000 for September as arrears. In this way a total of Rs 4,000 will be sent to the bank account.

This amount received before the festivals can help the cooks in purchasing essential household items and for Diwali. However, payment will depend on the completion of the process in the respective districts.

About 3.53 lakh cooks benefited

Cooks prepare food for children in government schools in rural and urban areas of the state. About 3.53 lakh employees will get direct benefits from this decision of the government.

Cooks had to work for a long time at low honorarium. In such a situation, an increase of Rs 1,000 will increase their income. This is expected to provide some relief in meeting daily expenses.

Central and state governments provide funds

Mid Day Meal Scheme is now known as Pradhan Mantri Poshan Yojana. Under this, food is provided to children in schools. Both the central and state governments have financial participation in the scheme.

According to the given details, the honorarium of cooks is Rs 1,000 from the Central Government and Rs 2,000 from the State Government. Including both, the total monthly honorarium becomes Rs 3,000.

Honorarium is given for 10 months in a year

Cooks working in government schools do not get honorarium for the full 12 months. Their working period is considered to be 10 months in a year. Therefore, according to the increased rate, they will get a total of Rs 30,000 in one education session. Earlier the annual honorarium was Rs 20,000. Now it has increased by Rs 10,000.

Help for uniforms and gloves also

Apart from honorarium, cooks are also given financial assistance for uniform and security. Rs 500 is given annually for uniform and Rs 400 is given for buying gloves. Its purpose is to maintain cleanliness in the kitchen and ensure the safety of employees during work.

Action on delay in payment

Mid Day Meal Director Prem Ranjan Singh has instructed the Basic Education Officers and Finance and Accounts Officers of all the districts to make the payment on time. Officials have been asked to send the amount to the bank accounts of the cooks within the stipulated time.

The government has clarified that in case of negligence in payment, departmental action can be taken against the concerned officers. The aim of the government is that the cooks can get the benefit of increased honorarium and dues before the festivals.
