Hisar: Haryana agriculture and farmers’ welfare minister Shyam Singh Rana on Sunday assured farmers that the Nayab Singh Saini govt was committed to procuring every grain of their produce. He also said complaints regarding paddy yields exceeding the prescribed average would be addressed within 48 hours of a written request.




During his visit to grain markets in Dabwali, Kalanwali, Rania and Sirsa , Rana asked farmers, whose output exceeded the prescribed average, to submit details in writing to the secretary of the concerned market committee.




He directed officials to ensure that such farmers did not face difficulties in selling their additional produce.




The minister interacted with farmers and commission agents to review procurement, crop lifting, payments, gunny bag availability, fertiliser supplies and other mandi facilities.




He also directed officials to speed up lifting after procurement, ensure adequate gunny bags and maintain cleanliness, drinking water facilities and proper records. Rana said paddy with moisture content of up to 17% was being procured as per norms and payments were being made after the issuance of J-form.




Rana said additional space was being arranged in mandis facing storage constraints and assured commission agents that their demands, submitted through memorandums in Sirsa, Kalanwali and Rania, would be considered. He also told officials to address waterlogging complaints at the Dabwali mandi’s B Block and in Rania.




The minister further said the govt would ensure adequate fertiliser supplies based on land registered on the portal. Govt is also working to provide sufficient irrigation water, he added.




Rana said farmers switching from paddy to cotton would receive an incentive of Rs 10,000 per acre. Govt was also in talks with agricultural universities to ensure the availability of quality cotton seeds, the minister informed.




He said officials had been directed to resolve farmers’ and commission agents’ grievances promptly during the procurement season. Rana was accompanied by several administrative officials, market committee representatives and BJP functionaries.
