A boyhood friend of billionaire Gautam Adani and a former dental surgeon, Dr. Malay Mahadevia played a pivotal role in the growth of the Adani Group, the biggest conglomerate in India. Known as Adani’s “right hand,” Dr. Mahadevia serves as the CEO of Adani Airport Holdings Limited (AAHL) and the Whole-Time Director of Adani Ports & SEZ (APSEZ).

In FY2023, APSEZ generated an impressive income of Rs 20,852 crore under his leadership. Additionally, Adani Enterprises and AAHL’s combined profits skyrocketed to Rs 1.38 lakh crore, highlighting his significant contributions to the group’s expansion.

The accomplishments of Dr. Mahadevia are well known. He received the Ahmedabad Management Association’s “Outstanding Manager of the Year” award in 2002.

With active participation in esteemed organizations like the Gujarat Chamber of Commerce & Industry, the Centre for Engineering & Technology (CEPT), and the Board of Advisors for Maritime Studies at Gujarat University, his impact goes beyond the Adani Group.

Adani’s business approach is similar to Mukesh Ambani’s in that it mostly depends on the knowledge and allegiance of close friends and family. Dr. Mahadevia is a prime example of this strategy.
