Ratan Tata one of Indias most admired industrialists was celebrated for his visionary leadership business acumen ethical practices and philanthropic contributions. Under his leadership the Tata Group reached remarkable heights and became a symbol of integrity and innovation in India. Beyond his corporate success Ratan Tata was known for his humility and compassion leaving an indelible mark on both the business world and society.

Noel Naval Tata is the chairman of the Tata Trusts which is the controlling entity of Tata Sons. He was appointed to this role in October 2024 after the death of his half-brother Ratan Tata.
Majority Shareholders of Tata Sons
Tata Trusts particularly the Sir Dorabji Tata Trust and Sir Ratan Tata Trust collectively own a 66% stake in Tata Sons the principal holding company of the Tata Group. These trusts are the primary shareholders making their leadership pivotal to the conglomerates governance and vision.

Historically the chairmanship of Tata Sons and Tata Trusts was unified under a single leader as seen with Ratan Tata. However in 2022 a significant governance reform separated these roles to enhance oversight and ensure better management of both entities.
Who Succeeded Ratan Tata?
Noel Tata is the chairman of the Tata Trusts which includes the Sir Ratan Tata Trust and Allied Trusts. Venu Srinivasan is the vice chairman of Tata Trusts and the chairman emeritus of Sundaram Clayton Limited and TVS Motor Company. Vijay Singh is the vice chairman of Tata Trusts and a former bureaucrat. Mehli Mistry: A Mumbai-based businessman who joined Tata Trusts in October 2022.

Ratan Tata’s half brother Noel Tata is the chairman of the Tata Trusts. Noel Tata is married to Aloo Mistry and they have three children: Maya Leah and Neville. His daughters Maya Tata and Leah Tata are on the board of trustees of the Sir Ratan Tata Industrial Institute (SRTII).
