Auto Expo 2025: Hyundai has shown an interesting prototype of its Creta with a 1.0l turbo petrol engine at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025. It is a Creta with a flex fuel powertrain while being a prototype. Flex fuel cars run on an alternative combination of petrol and ethanol or the ability to run on 100 per cent ethanol.
This particular Creta flex fuel car has a powertrain which can run on E0 to E100 or can run on 100 per cent ethanol.
The biggest advantage for the new technology is that flex fuel cars are cleaner for the environment as ethanol is cleaner than petrol.
This engine has sensors and other technological changes which make it designed to run on any blend of ethanol. This car is a working prototype and uses a smaller 1.0l turbo petrol which is not available with the Creta.
Flex fuel cars are cleaner and the Narendra Modi Government has been advocating cleaner fuel and alternative fuel sources for cleaner cars in the future.
Flex fuel cars are popular in markets like Brazil. The Government will push for ethanol production and incentives could be in the pipeline for buyers of these vehicles.
Petrol with a smaller blend at 20 percent ethanol is E2O fuel and future cars like this Creta would be able to run on a pure blend.
The Creta was also recently launched with an electric powertrain and it comes with two battery packs in India while being launched at the 2025 Bharat Mobility Global Expo. It should be noted that currently, the Creta flex fuel car is a prototype.
