Expansion
Instagram is working on bringing community notes to its platform. According to a tipster, a new option to write community notes on posts published on this Meta-owned platform is being added. In this way, Meta has once again copied another platform.
This information has come to light at a time when a few weeks ago Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg announced the closure of the existing fact-checking program. He cited censorship mistakes and strict content policy as the reason behind this, although Meta has revealed that Community Notes will be implemented on all its social media platforms, but its release date has not been announced yet.
Community Notes may come to Instagram soon
Developer Alessandro Paluzzi (@alex193a) posted on Threads that the Community Notes feature for Instagram is currently in the development phase and is not yet available to any user. It is being said that this feature is in an advanced stage on Threads, where testing of Community Notes is already going on. The special thing is that Zuckerberg told that this feature will be implemented first in the US and then it will be launched in other regions.
A screenshot shared by the tipster shows that the feature can be accessed by tapping on the three vertical dots present alongside Instagram posts. The option is named “Write community note” and is located above the “Report” icon. It is currently unclear how users will be selected for community notes and how the written notes will be rated.
