But a beach in offers something no other beach on Earth can.

is located on the and is famous for having two shores.

This is apparently because of a rare natural phenomenon created by tidal lagoons.

When the tide recedes, seawater gets trapped between the main beach and sandbanks, forming a second shoreline of golden sand.

The beach stretches for over nine kilometres (5.6 miles) and is known for its crystal-clear waters, soft sand, and endless open space.

Even in peak season, can often find themselves alone in certain areas.

However, some parts of the beach have shallow water, requiring a long walk to reach deeper sections if anyone wants to swim.

The beach is divided into five main areas - La Barca, Risco del Paso, Mirador, Malnombre, and Los Canarios.

Each part has something different to offer, depending on what visitors are looking for. Some parts are great for relaxation, while others are full of thrill-seekers.

This is because Sotavento is a hotspot for windsurfing and kitesurfing, with many athletes coming from around the world.

The beach hosts the annual Fuerteventura Windsurfing and Kitesurfing World Championship because of its strong and consistent winds.

There are also several clubs along the shore that provide equipment rental and lessons for beginners.

Snorkelling is also popular in calmer areas where the water remains exceptionally clear.

The beach is part of Jandía Natural Park, a protected area that plays an important role in preserving marine life and local ecosystems.

The tidal lagoon provides a safe habitat for fish and migratory birds.

Facilities are quite limited, with only a few food and drink kiosks available in the northern area near Costa Calma and at Risco del Paso in the south.

This means that anyone who plans to visit should bring their supplies, just to be safe.

Getting to Sotavento requires a car, as the roads leading to the beach have unpaved sections.

However, parking is available near the shore and easily accessible for visitors.
