Davina McCall broke down in tears on Friday's Comic Relief while talking about her brain tumour and surgery. Just four months ago, the TV presenter underwent surgery to remove a benign brain tumour, known as a colloid cyst. In November 2024, the presenter, 57m revealed she had a 14mm tumour and had surgery to have it removed. She struggled to contain her emotions as she delivered a heartwrenching update on-air.

She began: "I had a pretty mad year this year. Doctors found a benign brain tumour by chance and after a lot of deliberating I had it removed. And it's quite possibly the hardest thing I have ever been through. This whole experience, weirdly weighing up all of the risks and all the positive things about having this tumour removed made me realise and made me really thing deeply about what life is all about and what really matters when life gets tough."

Davina continued: "I needed the brilliance and the skill of lots of experts to make me ok."

As she fought back tears the presenter apologised as she struggled to get the words out before insisting she needed the "love and support of my family".

"Sorry, sorry..." she remarked as an audience member assured her, "We love you Davina."

The Comic Relief host assured viewers she is doing fine as the studio audience erupted into applause for the beloved presenter.

"My friends and family and particularly Michael to get me through," the teary-eyed host added.

Davina told viewers that watching Billy Monger's documentary - a double amputee - where he visited the projects gave her the realisation there are "so many people who are scared, in trouble and in danger".

She explained many of those people don't have the support as she urged the public to donate to those less fortunate from parents who are having to skip meals to feed their children to homeless teenagers who need assistance.

"All of you, you at home," she commented, "You all show up for people when they are really up against it. I love you guys."

Davina concluded: "This idea that we don't care about other people anymore or that we're all selfish, look it's evidently rubbish."

Earlier in the programme Davina was joined by co-stars Alesha Dixon and Joel Dommett as they shared they would be going through the Comic Relief archives to pay tribute to show stars who have previously taken part in Red Nose Day but are no longer with us.

BBC viewers were left in tears as they honoured a host of famous faces but some viewers noted one show star was missing from the segment.

Davina said: "As we look back through the archives we've been touched by all the incredible people who gave their time and their love to Comic Relief and who are no longer with us. Because of them these Red Nose Days have been the best days of our lives."

They paid tribute to various stars including Cilla Black, Sarah Harding, Caroline Flack, Liam Payne, Victoria Wood, Tom Parker, Ronnie Corbett to Sir Michael Parkinson just to name a few.

The heartbreaking moment left viewers in tears as one tweeted: "Comic relief remembering Tom Parker and Liam Payne [crying emojis] @LiamPayne @TomParker @comicrelief #ComicRelief #LiamPayne #TomParker." Another echoed: "Please get me a Kleenex."

A third shared: "#ComicRelief This is great this year, quite emotional as so many stars who did it are no longer with us. 40 years!!? Plus I worked behind the scenes on the first one and it was very scary!! #ComicRelief2025 Astonishing nostalgic for me."

Others claimed George Michael was missing from the tribute as one said: "But no George Michael, who featured in the best #ComicRelief sketch to date..."

Another added: "No George Michael on the #ComicRelief memorial? Such a lovely tribute I was expecting to see a clip of his sketch with Smithy."
