Sitamarhi. There is good news for sugarcane farmers in Bihar. The state government has decided to provide 50 to 60 percent subsidy to farmers on purchasing modern agricultural equipment under the Sugarcane Mechanization Scheme. This scheme will help in reducing the labor of farmers and increasing production from field preparation to crop harvesting.

According to the Sugarcane Industry Department, a total of 154 farmers have been selected in the third randomization for the year 2025-26, who will be provided 09 types of modern agricultural equipment under the scheme. Through this scheme, farmers will not only be able to do their farm work in scientific and modern ways, but it will also be possible to increase their income.

What instruments are included

The major implements covered under the scheme are: Disc Harrow, Power Weeder, Power Tiller, Land Leveler and Laser Leveler, Ratoon Management Device, Rotavator, Mini Tractor 4WD, Tractor Mounted Hydraulic Sprayer.

Validity of acceptance letter

The department has clarified that the validity of the approval letter will remain only till January 18, 2026. Approval letters have been issued to the selected farmers. Based on this they can purchase equipment from authorized equipment sellers listed on the SuMech portal. The farmer will have to pay the entire amount first, after which there will be departmental verification. The fixed grant amount will be sent directly to the bank account of the farmers through DBT (Direct Benefit Transfer).

Sugarcane Industry Department has issued contact number 0612-2215788 for the convenience of farmers. Farmers can contact for any information, problem or technical assistance from 9:30 am to 6 pm. The department has appealed to all the selected farmers to complete the process within the time limit.
