Aaron Jones: USA has suffered a big setback before the announcement of the team for T20 World Cup 2026. He has suffered this blow due to Aaron Jones, who has been suspended by ICC from playing all forms of cricket with immediate effect. Aaron Jones has been accused of fixing by exceeding the limits of cricket rules 5 times. After suspending Jones on January 28, ICC has also sought his reply within 14 days.

Jones suspended in fixing case

Apart from fixing, Aaron Jones has also been accused of not cooperating in the investigation of the alleged crime and not giving related information to the authorities. ICC said in its statement that 5 charges have been leveled against American player Aaron Jones. The main charges against him relate to the 2023-24 BIM10 tournament, which falls under the jurisdiction of Cricket West Indies' Anti-Corruption Code, while two charges relate to international matches, which fall under the ICC Code. ICC said that Jones has been temporarily suspended with immediate effect.

Was out of the team for playing in CPL, know the matter

Aaron Jones, who faced ICC suspension, has been in controversies before also. In the year 2024, Aaron Jones was dropped from the USA cricket team for playing in the Caribbean Premier League i.e. CPL without NOC. Jones played as a local player for St. Lucia Kings in that league. It was believed that being angry with him, the USA Cricket Board did not give him a place in the touring team for the WCL-2 matches on the Namibia tour in September that year.

Dominated in the last T20 WC, will sit out this time

Aaron Jones is the star batsman of USA. He also played the last T20 World Cup in June 2024, in which he was the second most successful batsman of his team. He scored 162 runs in 6 matches with 1 half-century and a strike rate of 135. During this period, he played a match against India, in which he scored 11 runs. Born in New York, 31-year-old Aaron Jones has played 52 ODI and 48 T20 International matches for USA. He played his last international match in April 2025.
