Hockey India has announced the 24-member Indian squad for the first leg of the FIH Pro League to be held from February 10 to 15 at the Birsa Munda International Hockey Stadium in Rourkela. Hockey India had released the list of 33 probable players last month, out of which 24 players have been selected. Apart from India, teams from Belgium and Argentina are going to participate in the Rourkela leg.
There is a good mix of experienced and young players in the Indian team. Suraj Karkera and Pawan will handle the responsibility of goalkeeping. Whereas in defence, there are players like Amit Rohidas, captain Harmanpreet Singh, Jarmanpreet Singh, Jugraj Singh, Sumit and Sanjay. Amandeep Lakra is also included in the list of defenders. Amandeep is returning to the team. He recently performed brilliantly in the Hockey India League 2025-26 and won the Player of the Tournament award.
Indian hockey team head coach Craig Fulton said in his statement, ‘There is a good mix of young and experienced players in the team. We have youngsters like Roshan Kujur and Manmeet Singh, while senior players are also in the team. This balance is very important. Argentina and Belgium are great teams and we will try to give our best.
The Indian team, which stood 8th among 9 teams last season, will play its first match against Belgium on 11 February, while it will play Argentina on 13 February. After this, there will be a match against Belgium on 14th February and Argentina on 15th February. After this, the Indian team will go to Hobart, where it will play Spain on 21 and 24 February and Australia on 22 and 25 February. The European leg of the league will be played in June.
