New Delhi: Get ready for romance with a twist. Avinash Tiwary and Medha Shankr are set to light up screens in Ginny Wedss Sunny 2, the fresh sequel to the hit rom-com.

The first-look poster shows Medha in a saree perched on a bare-chested Avinash doing push-ups with dumbbells – pure fun and chemistry. Hitting cinemas on April 24, this family entertainer promises laughs, love, and surprises. Directed by Prasshant Jha and produced by Vinod Bachchan, it’s a bold new chapter.

The makers dropped the exciting first-look poster on Thursday, teasing fans with the caption: “Ginny and Sunny are Back! Rishta fixed hai bas iss bar thoda sa Twist hai (The relationship is fixed, just this time there is a little twist)! #GinnyWedssSunny2 arrives in cinemas on 24th April!” This theatrical release marks a big shift from the 2020 Netflix original Ginny Weds Sunny, which starred Vikrant Massey and Yami Gautam. The new story brings Avinash and Medha as the leads, refreshing the franchise with new faces and plot turns.

Avinash Tiwary shared his thrill on social media, saying, “Beyond excited to share the joy I have had over the last couple of months shooting for GWS2. I wish I could make you see it right away…Sharing a few glimpses of the memories I have created. There is so much (heart emoji) for every crew member who has given it all to get you a film that will entertain, bring love, laugh and joy for every member of your family. A True Family Entertainer (sic).” He called it a heartfelt project made with full dedication from the crew.

For Medha Shankr, this is her first big theatre release since her breakout in 12th Fail back in 2023. Fans are eager to see her spark with Avinash after her acclaimed performance. The duo’s playful poster vibe hints at comedy mixed with romance.

The original Ginny Weds Sunny followed Sunny (Vikrant Massey) chasing Ginny with help from her matchmaker mom, tackling love, mix-ups, and family pressures before their happy ending. This sequel keeps the spirit alive but adds its own twist. Meanwhile, Avinash gears up for O’Romeo on February 13, starring Shahid Kapoor and Triptii Dimri.
