This airport is being developed in collaboration with Zurich Airport International AG. The special thing is that it has become the first airport in the country to get Green Campus Certification from the Indian Green Building Council.

The government says that it is being developed on a net-zero concept, that is, efforts will be made to balance energy use and impact on the environment.

The first phase of the airport will have the capacity to handle about 1.2 crore passengers every year. Initially flights will operate from one runway here. However, this airport will be expanded in the coming phases and there are plans to build up to five runways here. After this it can be included among the largest airports in Asia. According to reports, Delhi-NCR, Western Uttar Pradesh and surrounding states will get huge benefits from the opening of Jewar Airport. Along with air travel becoming easier, new opportunities for investment, tourism and employment will also increase here. For this reason, this project is being counted among the most important infrastructure projects of North India.
