The Sri Venkateswara Annaprasadam Trust of Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams received a donation of Rs 11 crore from a devotee in Mumbai. Venkaiah Chowdary, the additional executive officer of TTD in Tirumala, received the donation from Tushar Kumar of the Prasid Uno Family Trust.
“On Monday, Tushar Kumar, a devotee of the Prasid Uno Family Trust in Mumbai, generously donated Rs 11 crore to the Sri Venkateswara Annaprasadam Trust,” the temple board stated in a news statement.
In order to provide 2,000 pilgrims free meals every day, former state minister N. T. Rama Rao established the Venkateswara Nithya Annadanam Endowment Scheme in 1985.
Later, in 1994, the program changed its name to Sri Venkateswara Nithya Annadanam Trust, which became an independent trust. In 2014, it was renamed Sri Venkateswara Annaprasadam Trust.
The trust, which receives contributions from all around the globe, puts money in nationalized banks and uses the income it earns to pay its bills. Nearly 14 tons of rice and 10,000 liters of milk are prepared every day in the massive kitchens of TTD, the official guardian of the Sri Venkateswara Temple in Tirupati. Drinks and three meals a day are provided to thousands of enthusiasts.
