Mumbai all-rounder Shardul Thakur made his presence felt with a superb 66-run knock in the 4th innings of his side's Ranji Trophy semi-final clash against Vidarbha.


Mumbai resumed Day 5 on 83/3 and were soon reduced to 124/6 in the 48th over.


Thereafter, Shams Mulani and Thakur added a century-plus stand.


However, both players were sent back to leave Mumbai at 254/8.

Thakur walked in when Mumbai were 124/6 after 47.3 overs. His partnership alongside Mulani helped Mumbai recover. Thakur looked in sync and scored 66 from 124 balls. He smashed five fours and a six. He was dismissed in the 85th over by Yash Thakur.


Thakur surpasses 500 runs in Ranji 2024/25

In Mumbai's first innings, Thakur smashed a breezy 37 from 41 balls. And now his 66 takes him to 2,492 runs in First-Class cricket at an average close to 21, as per ESPNcricinfo.


This was his 16th fifty in FC cricket (100s: 2).


In the ongoing Ranji season, he owns 505 runs at 42.08 from nine matches. This was his 4th fifty (100s: 1).


Thakur excels despite Mumbai's exit from Ranji

Mumbai suffered an 80-run defeat on Day 5 against Vidarbha, folding for 325 runs in the 4th innings.


However, Thakur was one of the positives for Mumbai.


Besides his 505 runs with the bat, Thakur also managed 35 wickets from nine matches. He averaged 22.62 with the help of three four-fers and a fifer.
