There's a way to make that's even easier and results in a light, fluffy texture every time without the need for flipping or constantly changing the temperature of the hob.

A shift in methods is changing the game for good - and it might just leave your traditional frying pan gathering dust this Shrove Tuesday.

New research by Iceland Foods has revealed that more than half of Brits (54%) are ditching the frying pan in favour of an air fryer this Pancake Day.

This growing trend has been championed by chef Matt Worsley, head chef at Iceland Foods, who insists that the key to making pancakes perfectly every time is actually using an .

"Air fryers are transforming the way we cook, and now they're even reshaping Pancake Day," said Matt. "With the convenience of cooking multiple pancakes at once, with no flipping required, it's no wonder people are making the switch. "

Matt's method not only removes the need for those nerve-wracking flips, but it also presents a more efficient way to make pancakes.

"Air fryers deliver light, fluffy and perfectly cooked pancakes every time, with no flipping required," he added, explaining the advantages of the gadget.

To get started, Matt shared a foolproof recipe for air fryer pancakes, focusing on the key elements to ensure that your pancakes come out perfectly every time.

First, he recommends starting with a lump-free, thicker batter "as it holds its shape and cooks evenly."

To achieve the ideal consistency, simply reduce the liquid in your usual recipe or add an extra spoonful of flour.

As for the cooking process itself, Matt said: "Since air fryers cook from all sides, there's no need to flip. Simply pour the batter onto a lined air fryer tray or use individual moulds to create perfectly shaped pancakes without any mid-air disasters."

The air fryer does all the work, ensuring the pancakes cook evenly on both sides, but the temperature is crucial, too.

"Preheat your air fryer to 180 degrees and cook the pancakes for eight to 10 minutes," advised the expert chef. Check at the 8-minute mark and adjust the time as needed to achieve your preferred level of golden brown."

For those looking to make a large batch, the air fryer shines with its ability to cook multiple pancakes at once.

"To make multiple pancakes at once, add a layer of greaseproof paper in between each one," Matt suggests.
