Saturday night's quarter-final of Gladiators saw a thrilling return of previous contestants, ready to tackle more gruelling challenges.

The male competitors started with the challenge 'Unleash,' where contestant Lewis dashed ahead as Gladiator Hammer pursued him across an obstacle course. Lewis managed to snatch a flag and leap into a pit just in time, eluding Hammer and beaming with triumph.

However, the celebration was put on hold as referee Mark Clattenberg reviewed the footage before announcing, "I can confirm that you did it, and I can give you ten points."

Host Bradley Walsh couldn't resist a quip, retorting: "I'm not being funny but I could have told you that, could have saved you faffing around on the telly."

Mark stood his ground, confronting Bradley with a stern warning: "Bradley, I'm the referee of the arena, any more of your back chat and I'll send you out of the arena," reports .

Boos from the crowd ensued as Bradley pulled comical faces, prompting Mark to direct one of his referees to address the host.

Assistant referee Sonia Mkoloma approached Bradley and advised him to tone down the sass before she and Lee Phillips humorously escorted him off the set.

Some viewers couldn't help but delight in Bradley getting a dressing-down from Mark Clattenberg, with one tweeting, "That's Bradley being told off by Mark Clattenberg. Anyway, it's time for The Wall #Gladiators."

Others chimed in, saying "#Gladiators Ooh, Mark telling off Bradley! Get him out of here!" and "Mr Clattenberg can get rid of the hosts? #Gladiators."

As he was led away, Bradley continued to chant, "Ten points for Lewis, ten points for Lewis, I say," while the camera switched to Hammer heading back to the locker room for a debrief with the other Gladiators.

Gladiators continues next Saturday at 7pm on BBC One and BBC iPlayer
